Who’s better? – WP Engine or Hostgator

When you’re looking for a webhost for your website irrespective of how you are going to use your website you look for a reliable web host. This task although very difficult is a make or break decision because your web host to a very large extent is also responsible for how your business operates.

Having been introduced only in the year 2010 WordPress engine is still fairly new is the industry but has impressed many with its services whereas hostgator has been an old player in the market serving for almost 10 years now.

WP Engine or Hostgator

But being there is not all that’s needed to last long enough and thus I will compare few features of both the hosting companies to help you decide what suits you best.

Plan Rates & Characteristics:

WP Engine: WP engine only provides 4 types of plans i.e. personal, profession, business and premium plans for all kinds of businesses. Although these plans are quite efficient and include all essential feature required whether you’re a newbie or a pro they are quite expensive. Least expensive is the personal plan @ $29 every month and most expensive is the business plan @ $249 every month. WP engine provides backup on a daily basis

Hostgator:  Unlike WP engine hostgator provides a much wider range of plans and features at very economical prices for all kinds of hosting services. The most economical plan is the baby plan costing $3.96 every month including much needed features like unlimited bandwidth and storage.

Customer Services:

Hostgator: The customer support team of hostgator is quick and provides much needed guidance to solve any issue. They are available 24*7 and can be contacted either by phone or chat or email. Video tutorials provided are also great problem solvers.

WP Engine: One place WP engine still lacks is its customer service. Although it includes all important features like a live chat, email facility and telephonic conversation it does not fulfil its promise of 24*7 availability. Most customers complain that their service team is only available from 9am to 6pm central time.

Uptime Guarantee:

Hostgator offers an uptime of only 99.9% as compared to the 100% offered by WP Engine. Both companies ensure they live up to the uptime expectations. Both offer highly efficient and quick servers.
In case of unwanted downtimes both the companies offer a credit for that period.

Refund Policy:

The refund policy of WP hosting is much better when compared to that of hostgator. WP engine allows its users a 60 day period for its users to decide whether they want to continue or not whereas hostgator only offers a 45 day trail period. Thus offering less to make a decision.
