Hostgator VS Bluehost : Which is a better Hosting Provider?

Two web hosting companies that I found most prominent among all website owners were Hostgator and Bluehost. Both of them are few of the oldest players in the market and have been providing top class services for years. Thus it can become very difficult to choose one of the two.

Just to make the decision slightly easier for you I have provided a comparison between the various plans and its features of Bluehost and Hostgator. But remember one thing. When you choose a web host you need to choose what suits your needs. Don’t make a choice depending on just cost or some feature.

The Experience matters

Experience matters because the longer the company has survived the more trust it instincts in a customer because no company can survive long enough without providing top services.

Bluehost: When it comes to experience there’s hardly anyone that goes past Bluehost which was established in the year 1996 by Matt Heaton which means it has been providing excellent services for a whopping 17 years now.

Hostgator: Although hostgator was established much later than bluehost i.e. in 2003 by Brent Oxley a student of the Florida Atlantic University it has faced the tough competition in the market and has earned its place among the top 10 service providers and has been providing top services for 10 years now.

Cost

Hostgator: VPS hosting, Dedicated hosting, Shared hosting, reseller hosting, you name it hostgator has it all. The basic shared hosting plan of hostgator costs only $3.96 every month which is quite similar to that of bluehost. The VPS and dedicated hosting plans of hostgator are much more cost effective.

Bluehost: Unlike hostgator, bluehost only started providing VPS and dedicated hosting in the year 2013. And these plans cost more than that of hostgator. The simple shared hosting plan costs around $3.95 every month.

Plan Benefits and Diversity

Hostgator: Hostgator provides a more diverse range of plans. Shared hosting includes 3 types of plans which include all necessary benefits like limitless storage and bandwidth etc., VPS consists of 9 different levels. The higher the level the better the features available.

Bluehost: Bluehost on the other hand provides only one kind of shared hosting plan but includes one additional feature as it allows hosting unlimited domains whereas the most basic shared hosting plan of hostgator only allows hosting of 1 domain. VPS and dedicated hosting offers less variety and fewer features when compared to hostgator.

Reimbursement policies

One place bluehost totally beats hostgator is with its money back policy as hostgator allows only a 45 day money back plan which means you get only 45 days to decide whether you want to continue or not which sometimes may not be enough time to judge whereas with bluehost you can cancel your account anytime and get a refund.
